Red Bull and Max Verstappen make a strong comeback: Monza revives the season

After several weeks marked by unusual underperformances, Red Bull and Max Verstappen made a spectacular comeback at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The triple world champion dominated the weekend, taking pole position and then a brilliant victory, reminding everyone why he remains the man to beat in Formula 1.

A perfect weekend in Monza

From free practice onwards, Verstappen showed renewed confidence, supported by a responsive and well-balanced car. In qualifying, he delivered a masterful lap, beating Lando Norris by just a few hundredths. On Sunday, the Dutchman controlled the race from start to finish, never really being threatened by his rivals.

Ferrari, in front of its home crowd, hoped to cause an upset but could not compete over the distance. As for McLaren, plagued by technical issues, it was unable to capitalize on the potential shown in qualifying.

Strong words from the paddock

This performance impressed the paddock, to the point that Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, summed up the situation: «Verstappen made everybody look ridiculous. It was a spectacular level of domination.»

A strong message underlining how Red Bull managed to fix its recent weaknesses to reassert itself as the team to beat.

This success comes at a crucial moment in the season. While the championship battle seemed to be opening up, Verstappen’s victory at Monza sends a clear message: Red Bull has not said its last word. With successful technical updates and a driver at the peak of his confidence, momentum could swing back in their favor for the upcoming races.
