Monaco Grand Prix 2025:
Victory for Norris, Leclerc 2nd and Record in Qualifying

Qualifying: Norris on pole with a record
During qualifying, Lando Norris set an exceptional lap time of 1:09.954, establishing a new track record and taking his second pole position of the season. He edged out Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) by 0.109 seconds, while Oscar Piastri (McLaren) finished third, 0.175 seconds behind. Lewis Hamilton, initially fourth, was demoted to seventh on the grid due to a penalty for impeding Max Verstappen in Q1.
The Race: Norris holds off Leclerc to win
Under sunny skies, Norris led the race from start to finish, maintaining his lead despite constant pressure from Leclerc. Despite the introduction of a new rule requiring two mandatory pit stops, the race remained strategic, with few overtaking opportunities. Leclerc finished just 3.131 seconds behind the winner, while Piastri completed the podium 3.658 seconds back.
Max Verstappen finished fourth after a bold tyre strategy, followed by Lewis Hamilton in fifth. The race was marked by the retirements of Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly, as well as a virtual safety car following Gabriel Bortoleto’s crash on the opening lap.
