Alpine F1 :
Jack Doohan replaced by Franco Colapinto

On May 7, 2025, the Alpine F1 team announced a significant change in its driver lineup: Argentine Franco Colapinto will replace Australian Jack Doohan for the next five races of the championship, starting with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.
A strategic change at Alpine
This decision comes after a difficult start to the season for Doohan, who failed to score points in the first six races. His best result was 13th place, and he had two retirements, including one at the Miami Grand Prix. At the same time, the team experienced internal upheaval, notably the resignation of team principal Oliver Oakes. Flavio Briatore, executive advisor, has taken over leadership duties.
Alpine justified the replacement as an opportunity to evaluate different setups for the future, particularly in view of the 2026 season. Colapinto, 21, had joined Alpine as a reserve driver after a promising 2024 season with Williams, where he scored five points in nine races.
Franco Colapinto: a rising Argentine talent
Franco Colapinto is considered one of the most promising young talents in Argentine motorsport. After successful stints in Formula 4 and Formula 3, he made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2024. His arrival at Alpine marks an important milestone in his career.
Colapinto expressed his gratitude to Alpine for the opportunity and pledged to give his best alongside teammate Pierre Gasly. He said: "I’m honored by this chance and will do everything I can to help the team move forward."
Jack Doohan: a professional transition
Despite his disappointment, Jack Doohan accepted the decision professionally. He will remain with the team as a reserve driver and continue to work closely with engineers and drivers to help develop the car. Doohan said: "I’m proud to have reached Formula 1 and will keep fighting to come back stronger."
