The most successful drivers in Monaco Grand Prix history

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious races in the Formula 1 World Championship.
Since its first edition in 1929, it has been the stage for memorable performances by many drivers. Among them, some have particularly distinguished themselves by their number of victories on the Monaco circuit.
Ayrton Senna: The Master of Monaco
Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna holds the absolute record for victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, with six wins. He triumphed in this iconic race in 1987 and then consecutively from 1989 to 1993. His ease and mastery on the winding track of the Principality earned him the nickname "King of Monaco."
Graham Hill: "Mister Monaco"
Before Senna, it was British driver Graham Hill who was nicknamed "Mister Monaco" due to his five victories on the Monaco circuit. He won in 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, and 1969. Besides his successes in Monaco, Hill is also the only driver in history to have achieved the Triple Crown of Motorsport, winning the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Michael Schumacher: The Kaiser’s Era
German driver Michael Schumacher left his mark on Formula 1 history with his seven world titles. In Monaco, he triumphed five times, in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001. His ability to extract the maximum from his car on this demanding circuit cemented his reputation as one of the greatest drivers of all time.
Alain Prost: The Professor in Monaco
French driver Alain Prost, nicknamed "The Professor" for his methodical approach to racing, won the Monaco Grand Prix four times. His victories in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1988 demonstrate his consistency and talent on this technical track.
Monégasque Drivers: From Louis Chiron to Charles Leclerc
Louis Chiron remains to this day the only Monégasque driver to have won the Monaco Grand Prix, in 1931, before the Formula 1 World Championship era. Charles Leclerc, another talent from the Principality, won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2024, becoming the first Monégasque to triumph on this circuit since Chiron.
Other Notable Multiple Winners
Several other drivers have etched their names in Monaco’s history multiple times. British drivers Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, and Lewis Hamilton have each won the race three times, while Nico Rosberg accomplished the feat of winning three consecutive years, from 2013 to 2015.
